Heineken told staff on Tuesday they’re moving administrative and logistics work from Belgian subsidiary Alken-Maes up to Amsterdam headquarters. The message came with reassurances about pooling resources across markets.
Local roots stay crucially important, the company notes. Job numbers? Those weren’t mentioned.
The shift follows Heineken’s five-year strategy, which names five core brands worth focusing on: Heineken, Tiger, Amstel, Desperados, and Birra Moretti. Belgian beers like Cristal, Maes, and Hapkin from Alken-Maes… well, they’re not on the list.
Context helps here. Heineken recently posted disappointing results and cut 400 jobs at Amsterdam headquarters. CEO Dolf van den Brink exits in early 2026.
The company frames this as building skills needed for the future. More details are coming in the period ahead.
So far, the plan centers on improving competitiveness through centralization. This is expected to help.
